As a professor of theology, he was admitted to the newly founded Collegium ducale. In addition to teaching, he played a key role in the reform of the university and the establishment of the recently approved theological faculty. In 1385 he served as vice chancellor, in 1388/89 as dean of the theological faculty and in 1393/94 as rector of the university. Because of his astronomical and scientific treatises, in which he opposed astrology, which he classified as superstition, he was as early as the 16th century considered the initiator of an astronomical-mathematical tradition at the University of Vienna.
