In 1998, in the course of the opening of the Campus of the University of Vienna, the 23 new entrances and crossings were named after important personalities and equipped with information boards about their biographies. The content of these Gates of Remembrance has been revised according to the latest state of knowledge and graphically designed in the University's corporate design. The newly erected commemorative plaques give those honored on campus greater visibility and invite visitors to take a walk through the history of famous scientists at the University of Vienna.
