Fleischl von Marxow, Ernst

Das Denkmal wurde 1897 von seinem Bruder, Dr. Otto v. Fleischl-Marxow, beim Bildhauer Emil Fuchs in Auftrag gegeben und er bat die Universität im März 1897, das Denkmal nach Fertigstellung im Arkadenhof aufzustellen, was die Universität im Mai 1898 prinzipiell befürwortete, woraufhin Prof. Sigmund Exner, als Mitglied der Artistischen Kommission, formal die Aufstellung des Denkmals beantragte, das dann auch am 16. Oktober 1898 feierlich im Arkadenhof enthüllt wurde.

His brother, Dr. Otto v. Fleischl-Marxow, commissioned the monument in 1897 from the sculptor Emil Fuchs and asked the university in March 1897 to place the monument in the arcaded courtyard after completion, which the university approved in principle in May 1898, whereupon Prof. Sigmund Exner, as a member of the Artistic Commission of the Senate, formally requested the erection of the monument, which was then ceremoniously unveiled in the arcaded courtyard on October 16, 1898.

Die Ehrentafeln der Fakultäten in den Seitenaulen des Hauptgebäudes der Universität Wien wurden am 24. Mai 1893 enthüllt. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt umfasste die Ehrentafel der Medizinischen Fakultät eine Liste von 33 Namen von berühmten Schülern der Universität Wien, darunter jenen von Ernst Fleischl. Die Liste war für die Fakultät von Prof. August Emil Vogl bzw. im Auftrag des Senats von Universitätsarchivar Karl Schrauf zusammengestellt worden.

The honorary plaques of the faculties in the side columns of the main building of the University of Vienna were unveiled on May 24, 1893. At that time, the honorary plaque of the Faculty of Medicine included a list of 33 names of famous students of the university, including the name of Ernst Fleischl von Marxow. The list was compiled for the faculty by Prof. August Emil Vogl and by university archivist Karl Schrauf on behalf of the Senate.
